9. Kristen Stewart - Snow White (Snow White & The Huntsman)

As much intrigue as there was surrounding a gritty new Snow White movie in the vein of The Dark Knight, hope was almost immediately quashed once Kristen Stewart was cast as the iconic heroine.

Stewart, who was in the midst of wrapping up her tenure in the Twilight franchise at the time, came across as a cynical choice motivated solely by the financial success of Twilight rather than her suitability to the role.

More to the point, the Internet at large felt that Stewart was too "plain" to play a character as uniformly beautiful as Snow White, a problem exacerbated by the casting of Charlize Theron as the evil Queen Ravenna.

Were audiences really to believe that Charlize would fear that her beauty was being usurped by the rather bookish Bella Swan?

Did It Work Out?: No, but it wasn't a total disaster. Stewart's performance turned out more forgettable than bad, and was predictably outshone by Theron in both the looks and acting departments, making her rendition of Snow White ultimately feel a bit flat and wonky.

Unsurprisingly, Stewart opted not to return for the (awful) 2016 prequel-sequel The Huntsman: Winter's War, with Snow White only appearing via brief archive footage of Stewart from the first movie.
