12 Movie Sequels You Didn't Know Were Coming
8. The Passion Of The Christ: Resurrection
Another in a long line of long delayed and rumoured sequels, Mel Gibson and Randall Wallace have reportedly been working on a Passion of the Christ follow-up since 2016. Gibson has gone on record to say he wants to direct the picture, and that it's going to be even bigger than the 2004 original.
The Passion of the Christ was an extremely controversial film upon its release, thanks to it excessive violence and prolonged torture scenes (as well as Gibson's controversial public life), and it seems Resurrection will be no different.
Gibson and writer Wallace want the film to focus on the three days between Good Friday and the day of Jesus' return to earth. They're also hoping to include a subplot about the fall of the Angels, and Jesus actor Jim Caviezel is set to return to the eponymous role.
Whether Resurrection will be a well-received film is already debatable given its controversial history, but it will nonetheless be interesting to see where the cast and crew go with it. No release date has been given.
