12 Movie Sequels You Didn't Know Were Coming

Knives Out was a massive success when it was released in 2019, with praise going to the ensemble cast (Daniel Craig, Chris Evans and Ana de Armas in particular) and the direction of Rian Johnson, who also penned the dark and entertaining script.

Before the mystery even came out, Johnson spoke about how he wanted to make more films featuring Craig's Benoit Blanc, and in the early days of 2020 a sequel was confirmed by Lionsgate, with Johnson and Craig leading the project.

At this moment in time, the plot details are not known, though the sequel is tentatively planned for a 2022 release date. What is known is that it won't officially be called Knives Out 2, since it's a completely different story with only Craig returning from the first film, and that the classic crime stories of Agatha Christie will serve as inspiration.

Here's to hoping Johnson can recreate the genius of the Oscar-nominated original.
