12 Movie Sequels You Didn't Know Were Coming
4. Clerks 3
Since the release of Clerks 2 in 2006, Kevin Smith has always talked about returning to the characters that made him famous. In 2012, there was talk about Clerks 3 being made as a Broadway play. In 2013, he'd officially decided the sequel would be a movie, and said it would be the "Empire Strikes Back of the series."
Clerks 3 has been on-and-off for years, delayed by financial issues, studio problems (Smith is famous for his work with Harvey Weinstein, a relationship which has now fallen through, for obvious reasons) and scheduling conflicts.
Smith officially announced the sequel was happening on Instagram in 2019, where he wrote:
"It'll be the movie that concludes the saga. It'll be a movie about how you're never too old to completely change your life. It'll be a movie about how a decades-long friendship finally confronts the future... And it'll be a movie called CLERKS III!"
Smith, Jason Mewes (as Jay) and Dante and Randal actors Brian O'Halloran and Jeff Anderson will be returning for the sequel. There's currently no release date, but it's definitely happening.
