12 Movie Sequels You Didn't Know Were Coming

1. The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard

The most surprising entry to receive a sequel on this list, especially because of how forgettable the original movie was. While it is always a pleasure to be in the company of Samuel L. Jackson and Ryan Reynolds, this dark comedy-action film didn't exactly leave a mark. The darker aspects of the film at times sat uncomfortably with the lighter comedic moments, with the action scenes nothing we hadn't seen a hundred times before.

Salma Hayek proved a real scene stealer in the role of Jackson's wife Sonia Kincaid, and she is set to be a greater focus in the sequel, the terribly named The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard.

Reynold's Michael Bryce and Jackson's Darius Kincaid look set to team up in keeping Sonia alive from an as yet undisclosed threat. Considering the overly dark and menacing interpretation that Gary Oldman brought to the mass murdering antagonist Vladislav Dukhovich n the original, it will be interesting to see if a more mellow threat will be chosen here.

The chemistry between Reynolds and Jackson was the highlight the first time round, although having them as adversaries rather than allies for the majority of the film was half the fun. Hayek hopefully will throw a few spanners in the work, but considering the ever cramped schedule for movie releases and the woeful title of the film, there are some real doubts that this movie can be a success.
