4. Demolition Man 2

This entry is still somewhat speculative rather than 100% comfirmed to be going ahead, but if star Sylvester Stallone is to be believed, this non-awaited affair is very much happening. Stallone has confirmed that planning for a second Demolition Man is under way, with Sly set to return to his heroic role of muscular renegade cop, Sergeant John Spartan.

While advertised as a blockbuster shootout between Stallone's Spartan and Wesley Snipes' fast talking criminal Simon Phoenix, the original Demolition Man proved to be more of a satirical breakdown of the concept of a 'perfect society' than an action film. Snipes' character proved to be little more than a weapon for the devious plans of Nigel Hawthorne's Doctor Raymond Cocteau, a government figure who wished to suppress Denis Leary's underground leader Edgar Friendly.

Stallone has suggested that the film will be set further into the future than the original, opening the path for more fish out of water elements for Sergeant Spartan. Of the supporting actors, Nigel Hawthorne has passed away, the likes of Snipes and Leary are no longer big name stars, while Bullock's increased standing would make her return unlikely.

This, combined with the futuristic setting make the establishment of an all new support cast seem more likely than not. The film is unlikely to be released before 2023, so it will be interesting to see how this one progresses.
