12 Movies In The IMDB Top 250 You've Probably Never Seen

8. Downfall

Though the full movie eludes many, it's likely that 99 percent of you have seen at least one scene - one specific scene - from Downfall.

Or at least, a slightly altered version of it.

It's a real shame that the hundreds and hundreds of 'Angry Hitler' parodies strewn over the web have overshadowed the movie itself, because it's actually rather good.

It has been criticized for perhaps inadvertently making audiences feel sympathy toward Hitler, but it's also been hailed for its authenticity.

Detailing Hitler's final days in his bunker toward the end of World War II, Downfall (or Der Untergang, to give it its original title) is important viewing both as an educative tool and a piece of history.

The biggest problem you'll have with it will be trying not to laugh when that scene comes on.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
