12 Movies & TV Shows You Didn't Know Were Remade On Broadway

10. Legally Blonde

If you’re a musical theater nerd, chances are you’re still singing “So Much Better” in the hopes of being cast as Elle Woods in a local production of Legally Blonde.

Reese Witherspoon’s iconic film premiered as a musical on Broadway in 2007, starring Laura Bell Bundy and while the musical numbers still remain in the hearts of many, the show received only mixed reviews and disappointing sales. Nonetheless, Legally Blonde received seven Tony Award Nominations including Best Original Score and Best Leading Actress.

The show was filmed for television and even had a subsequent reality competition show searching for the next "Elle Woods". Despite all of the mainstream success, the show closed in 2008 after only one year on Broadway but quickly moved to The West End for a play of three years.
