12 Oscar Winning Actors Who Starred In Awful Horror Movies
3. Matthew McConaughey - Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation
Way before the McConaissance that saw him scoop a Best Actor Oscar for Dallas Buyers Club and critical acclaim for crime drama True Detective and even before he found himself in a bit of a rut playing the leading man in middling rom-coms, Matthew McConaughey landed himself a part in little known, low budget horror sequel Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation.
Despite a promising start with his breakthrough role in Richard Linklater’s coming of age cult classic Dazed and Confused, he’d yet to really break into Hollywood and found himself playing a crazed, inbred cannibal with a mechanical leg in the fourth instalment of the Texas Chainsaw franchise.
It’s quite possibly the worst film in a franchise that has gone steadily downhill since its first outing in 1974, but at least the makers of The Next Generation could boast a knack for nabbing future Hollywood talents – soon to be Oscar winner Renee Zellweger also took a starring role in the movie alongside McConaughey.
