12 More Pairs Of Comic Book Movie Characters We'd Love To See Fighting Each Other

9. Doctor Octopus Vs Whiplash

Doc Oc Whiplash Ah - the battle of the villains with the lengthy appendages. Doctor Octopus is something of a glass cannon. His main body is still completely human and therefore vulnerable to all the usual things a human is vulnerable to, but his tentacles somewhat make up for that by offering a vast degree of protection (keeping opponents at arm's length and deflecting projectiles/bullets etc) and by being incredibly strong and durable themselves. They are strong enough to throw Spider-Man around like a rag doll €“ and Spider-Man himself is no slouch in the strength department, so that is no mean feat €“ as well as strong enough to throw cars around. They allow him to move around at great speeds and can tear in to concrete and bricks to enable Doc Oc to climb the walls of buildings. Whiplash, in his Mark II armour at least, was very powerful indeed. To describe the armour crudely, it looks like an amalgamation of the first bit of hardware that Ivan Vanko wielded on the racetrack in Monaco and Iron Man's own armours. To be more specific about it, it was a sophisticated fusion of Hammer technology armour with a miniature arc reactor adapted from Howard Stark's and Anton Vanko's earlier designs. It was modelled with many of Tony Stark's Iron Man capabilities in mind and granted the wearer a wide array of enhancements, such as a vast strength increase, massively increased durability and high-speed flight capability. The power output of the suit's on board arc reactor could be channelled into powering two arm-mounted plasma whips that could be controlled to have a level of prehensile grasping capability €“ enough to manhandle Iron Man and War Machine. It's an interesting fight, but based on the glaring vulnerability of a particular combatant, there's only one winner here. Winner: Because if Doctor Octopus gets close enough to use his tentacles, he has to get through Whiplash's armour, but Whiplash just needs to make contact with Doc Oc's unprotected body with his whips and it's game over - Whiplash.
