11. The New Lightsaber - Star Wars: The Force Awakens
Never before have 88 seconds enchanted so many for so long nor generated so much of a response. But then it was always going to be the case as soon as JJ Abrams released the first footage from Star Wars: The Force Awakens, given the hype that met the project from day one. And in among the well-hidden details and hints and the fan-baiting sci-fi porn of the Millennium Falcon doing a loop-dee-loop, the single most interesting moment was reserved for the apparently new villain and his largely impractical weapon. Theories on the three pronged sabre have been numerous and varied (and so has the frankly undue levels of criticism) but there's no doubting that the reveal did its job perfectly. And it's an already iconic moment.
