12 R-Rated Comic Book Movies We Need To See After Logan & Deadpool
8. Nemesis
It seems there's barely a year goes by without someone optioning everything Mark Millar is involved with in the comics world. And why not? The guy has a great track record of writing material that turns into great films (well, apart from Kick-Ass 2 and Fantastic Four, but that was more film-making problems).
Nemesis was optioned back in 2010, with Tony Scott eyed to direct before his death, at which point it passed to Joe Carnahan, whose script earned praise from Millar. It was promised that it would get made if Kingsman did well, and since that did, it's widely assumed Warner Bros will deliver, after taking the rights in 2015.
The comic - typically for a Millar work - is incredibly violent, swaggering and imagines a world ruled by the delightful idea of what would happen "if Batman was a c*nt" in Millar's own words. There's no way it could be anything but R-rated.
The Likelihood
If Warner Bros do indeed deliver on the film, the chances of it being R-rated are probably pretty high. Even putting aside the fact that the material suits the rating, they have Joe Carnahan involved, whose previous writing and directing work has all been rated R (aside from The A Team, for obvious reasons).
He barely knows how to not make an R. So assuming the stars align, it's very likely.
