12 Reasons Why Justice League Is Worse Than Batman V Superman
1. Steppenwolf Is Somehow Worse Than Lex Luthor
Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor was one of Batman v Superman's biggest drawbacks. Utterly miscast to play one of the most iconic comic book villains ever, his version of Lex as an arrogant and eccentric Max Landis-type was completely out of place in the dark world Snyder had tried so hard to create.
Despite how bad he was in that movie though, Justice League's Steppenwolf makes Lex look like The Dark Knight's Joker in comparison. While Lex had shaky motivations for doing what he did, Steppenwolf's actions boil down to a generic thirst for revenge, and even that angle isn't properly explained in a compelling way.
From his visual design to his predictably evil goal, Steppenwolf is your bog-standard superhero villain, looking to end the world for, uh, reasons, and having a vendetta against humanity because the plot says he has to. He's barely a threat, and when it comes to sheer physicality and power, even the mindless and shoe-horned Doomsday from BvS felt more menacing.
Lex Luthor was bad, but Steppenwolf is up there with Malekith and Bullseye as one of the worst villains to ever grace a superhero movie.
