Scarlett Johansson may not be the first name which came to mind when you read “10 Scariest” well, anything, but the Black Widow actor pushes her talents in a fascinating and left field new direction with this strange, disturbing effort from Birth director Jonathan Glazer.
Following a
strange alien disguised as a human female as they traverse the British
countryside, luring in men before destroying them in a horrifying void of black
emptiness, this one certainly won’t be to every MCU viewer tastes.
Filled with deeply uncomfortable imagery of rape and torture and asking difficult questions of its audience, this flick offers no easy outs in its enigmatic, difficult to discern story, but there’s no denying that the horrifying flick has a deeply upsetting visceral impact which isn’t lessened by repeat viewings, particularly its tragic and pointlessly cruel ending.
