12 Sci Fi Films That Will Melt Your Brain
4. Jacob’s Ladder
Starring The Shawshank Redemption’s Tim Robbins, 1990’s surreal war movie/ horror sci-fi mash up Jacob’s Ladder may come from Adrian Lyne, the director of 1997’s much-maligned Lolita remake, but rest assured this mysterious and trippy thriller is his best work.
Featuring one of the best twists in film history, the film follows a Vietnam vet as he struggles to return to civilian life, hounded by an enigmatic mystery and unseen monstrosities in a city where nothing is quite as it seems and he’s not as far from the horrors of war as he hoped.
Dark, thoughtful, and ultimately moving, this’s a rare head trip as poignant as it is unsettling and incomprehensible.
