7. Lilo & Stitch

Yes, it is a sci-fi!

For some reason, fans of the excellent, hugely charming Lilo & Stitch (which remains Disney's most underrated treasure because of when it came out, mostly, and its attempt to tell a story quite remarkably unDisney on the surface) aren't all that enthused by the idea of a live action remake.

This debate on whether Disney should be remaking their own movies happens every time there's an announcement, but the reality for Lilo & Stitch is that it didn't land with the audience it deserved at the time. And subsequently huge licensed sales (Stitch is something of a retail hero) have proved there's appetite for the property. So seeing the tale of an alien war machine who comes to earth and learns about belonging and family (it's essentially The Iron Giant meets the Tazmanian Devil) arrive on Disney+ is absolutely no bad thing.

And if they use the same technology as Detective Pikachu has for Ryan Reynolds' delightful little titular hero, we're in for a treat.
