12 Sci-Fi Movie Sequels That Deserve A Second Chance

2. Back To The Future 3

Often singled out as this beloved franchise’s weakest link, there’s no denying that the third instalment of the time travel comedy adventure series Back to the Future is a considerable departure from the established norm of the films.

Where the first flick was a likeable teen comedy with elements of sci-fi, the second flick focused more on the time travel to become a trippy but no less light and fun adventure set in the near future. However the third film upended expectations entirely by taking its heroes Marty McFly and Doc Brown back in time once more—way back, this time, to the Wild West.

So we got a Western instalment at odds with the style of the first two films but which, upon a re-watch, is actually arguably the strongest single flick in the series. The third film gives Christopher Lloyd’s loveable Doc a shot at centre stage and his love story, along with the satisfying conclusion to Marty’s arc make for a pretty perfect closer to this much-loved trilogy.
