12 Things Marvel Will Want You To Forget About X-Men Movies
3. A Flashback To 1986
Even at the best of times, the X-Universe timeline is incredibly confusing, but when watching the flashback at the beginning of The Last Stand now, it puts a spanner in the works of more than a few aspects of the prequels. The meeting in question takes place 20 years before the events of The Last Stand, placing it firmly in 1986, just three years after X-Men: Apocalypse.
So, when does Charles meet Jean Grey? In Apocalypse, Jean is already enrolled in Xavier's school, yet here we see them meet for the first time, three years later. There is also the question of Charles being able to walk. Though he trades off his powers for the ability to walk at the beginning of Days of Future Past, this is only temporary, and the mutant clearly has his powers for the meeting in 1986.
The biggest question, however, is how Charles and Erik can go from being at war with each other through the 60's, 70's and the early 80's in First Class, Days of Future Past, and Apocalypse, to visiting young mutants together in 1986?
