12 Things Marvel Will Want You To Forget About X-Men Movies

7. Mr Sinister Tease That Led Nowhere

After X-Men: Apocalypse, there is a post credit scene that acted as a tease for the upcoming masterpiece, Logan, in which the Weapon X programme was revealed. This was not the only tease this scene offered. As the agent placed the vile of blood labelled 'Weapon X' into a briefcase, it is shut to reveal the Essex Corp logo.

This was clearly a nod to Nathaniel Essex and his alter ego Mister Sinister, one of the X-Men's greatest villains from the comics. Fans everywhere were understandably excited at the prospect of seeing Sinister go head to head with Wolverine the following year.

But when Logan came around, there was no sign of Essex anywhere. The Weapon X programme was used as promised, but instead of Mister Sinister we were given Richard E. Grant's Dr. Rice. While there was nothing necessarily wrong with this character, it begs the question, why would they tease such a big villain and not use him?

Reportedly the character was almost, but ultimately not, portrayed by Jon Hamm in another movie of the franchise that probably won't ever see release.
