12. The Pre-Title Chase Is A Blast

The World Is Not Enough features a highly entertaining chase scene as the centrepiece of its pre-title sequence.

After Elektra King's (Sophie Marcreau) father is assassinated by Giulietta da Vinci (Maria Grazia Cucinotta), Bond hops into Q's (Desmond Llewelyn) tricked-out speedboat and chases her on the Thames.

The sequence is best-remembered for 007 performing ridiculous acrobatic flips through the air, splashing some parking attendants and eventually taking a tumble along the roof of the Millennium Dome (now The O2 Arena).

Above all else, it was convincing proof right out of the gate that surprising directorial pick Michael Apted - best known for his work on the Up documentary series - could deliver live-wire action worthy of the franchise.
