12 Underrated Superhero Movies That Deserve A Second Viewing

8. The Amazing Spider-Man 2

With a marketing campaign that essentially sold audiences a completely different movie to the one they eventually got (seriously, there's so many different plot elements shown in the original trailers that didn't actually end up in the final film), it's pretty clear why fans and movie-goers bemoaned how over-stuffed The Amazing Spider-Man 2 was.

It's a completely fair criticism, because the middle of the film in particular is a complete mess, with too many villains, too many sub-plots and not enough focus ruining an adaptation of one of Spidey's most iconic comic book storylines.

However there's still a lot to like about this franchise-killing sequel. The way the film looks for one is absolutely astounding; with the most faithful Spidey costume and exhilarating action scenes authentically nailing the look and feel of the classic Spider-Man comics.

Also you've got to remember the sequel is essentially a kids film, and is aimed at a younger audience than your average Marvel - and especially your average DC - movie. With fans currently content that the franchise has moved back to its home at Marvel, now might be the time to go back and embrace The Amazing Spider-Man 2 for the fun, inconsequential Spidey tale that it is.
