12 Upcoming Movie Sequels Nobody Asked For

5. 47 Meters Down: Uncaged

Release Date: August 16

2017 shark film 47 Meters Down was an unexpected box office hit relative to its budget, grossing $61.7 million on a mere $5 million price tag.

Not bad for a movie originally intended to go straight-to-video, and impressive enough that a sequel was quickly commissioned.

And so, the lazily-titled 47 Meters Down: Uncaged has been quickly cobbled together and shot for release later this summer, with all evidence pointing to a rote rehash of an already aggressively mediocre original film.

Even if you found the first film moderately enjoyable, was anyone really pining for another go-around? Well-made shark movies may be in desperately short supply, but this really felt like a one-and-done.

Could It Be Any Good?: Returning director Johannes Roberts is a solid filmmaker, though sadly most of his films are compromised by poor scripts, so there's no reason to expect any different here.
