12 Upcoming Movie Sequels Nobody Asked For

4. Terminator: Dark Fate

Terminator 2019
Paramount Pictures

Release Date: October 31

With the release of Terminator Genisys back in 2015, fans at least assumed it would be the final nail in the coffin for the limp remains of the iconic sci-fi franchise.

But then it made a huge chunk 'o change in China, enough to make yet another sequel a decent financial prospect, and so here we are with a sixth film on the horizon.

Most fans of the franchise gave up hoping for anything good from it a while back, and indeed, there aren't many good reasons to expect quality from a series which hasn't been great or even particularly good for almost 30 years.

The preposterously-titled Terminator: Dark Fate offers up little reason for its own existence beyond exploiting the IP one more time before Arnold Schwarzenegger gets too old, and from the little we've seen so far, it looks...not good.

Could It Be Any Good?: It would be naive to expect much from the series at this point, though Deadpool's Tim Miller is directing and James Cameron will serve as a producer (though that didn't do much for Alita: Battle Angel, in fairness).

It'll be mildly amusing to see Linda Hamilton back in the Sarah Connor role, sure, but that doesn't mean the script from Laeta Kalogridis (Terminator Genisys, Alita: Battle Angel) and Patrick Lussier (Drive Angry, Terminator Genisys) will be anything close to decent.
