9. The Batman
The Film
So far a little shrouded in mystery (and tainted somewhat by endless production set-back stories and uncertainty around Ben Affleck's involvement), The Batman will be Warner Bros' opportunity to relaunch the Dark Knight once more.
Matt Reeves is involved and is promising a “very point-of-view noir-driven definitive Batman story” that is heavily drawn from the comics. If his work on Planet Of The Apes is anything to go by, we'll get great story-telling, heavy character focus and a conscious attempt to reclaim the brand for fans. Let's hope so anyway.
Evidence
Given the DCEU's struggles, this prediction might seem a little unlikely, but you have to think about fans' faith in the Batman brand and the implicit promise of "rescuing" the character from the doldrums. Reeves has an opportunity to clean-slate Batman like Christopher Nolan did (even if his film has to have SOME links to the DCEU) and that should get hardcore fans very excited.
Batman also has enduring mainstream audience appeal and it won't take much marketing (with a bent on revivalism) to really whip this up as the soft (or hard) reboot everyone wants.
