The Film

Continuing Disney's current fascination with live action remakes, Jon Favreau's The Lion King will roar into cinemas in 2019 with a stunning cast and the weight of Favreau's experience on The Jungle Book behind it. Donald Glover will play Simba, James Earl Jones returns as Mufasa and the likes of Chiwetel Ejiofor, Beyonce, Keegan-Michael Key and Seth Rogen are involved.

The film will follow the trend of the likes of Cinderella, The Jungle Book and Beauty & The Beast by taking some elements of the animated original (including four of its songs)

Evidence

The Jungle Book may have missed a billion dollars (just), but Beauty & The Beast got there and The Lion King is more on that sort of level of fan awareness (simply by virtue of it being so much more recent).

The cast (and particularly Glover and Beyonce) will guarantee a big response in itself, and the original animated almost took a billion itself, so there's a VERY good chance here.
