12 Upcoming Movies Nerds Should Be Most Thankful For

4. Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice

Release Date: March 25th 2016 It might have taken the back-route to existence when Man Of Steel was deemed an expensive slight misstep, but there€™s no denying Batman V Superman€™s irresistible draw. No matter how cynical it might be. Right now the film looks like an intriguing puzzle with only half the pieces in place and no sense of whether the whole thing will turn out well. Affleck as Batman is brave (but only because certain fanboys can€™t put the past behind them), Eisenberg as Luthor is very brave, and the prospect of a million narrative threads all converging at once is even braver. Hopefully it will all pay off - the film will make lots of money anyway - but the message here is that it€™s a good thing that there€™s even a chance for the gamble to be made. Why Should You Be Thankful? Usually the under-performance of a big character-led franchise starter leads to a total return to the drawing board and yet another reboot. But when Man Of Steel (comparatively) flopped and was (comparatively) critically mauled, it lead to DC adding Batman and launching the Extended Universe they should have sorted out years ago. So for once, be thankful that Warner Bros didn€™t pull the trigger and kill the so-called DCEU before it even started. And obviously be thankful for a new Batman too.
