12 Upcoming Movies That Have Ignored Massive Mistakes

10. Ignoring Franchise Fatigue - Dark Phoenix

The Lesson: Transformers: The Last Knight

If you keep shovelling mediocrity down your audience's throat, sooner or later they're going to start choking. This happened with the Transformers franchise last year, with a huge chunk of the billion-dollar audience finally bailing on the fifth installment, which ended up posting the lowest box office receipts and worst reviews of the series.

Similarly, the mainline X-Men series feels like it's basically reached that same apex of audience fatigue. Apocalypse was a disappointing misfire, and the R-rated likes of Deadpool and Logan have proven infinitely more interesting, popular and commercially successful.

Hell, the next X-Men movie, Dark Phoenix, even dropped the "X-Men" subtitle, perhaps ultimate proof of just how radioactive the brand name has become.

In addition to Jennifer Lawrence seeming totally uninterested in the franchise these days and Dark Phoenix's plot revolving around Sophie Turner's quite atrocious interpretation of Jean Grey, it's just hard to give much of a damn about this one.

It doesn't hurt that early screening reports are calling the movie a mess, with extensive re-shoots set to happen later in the year. At least with this possibly being the final movie in the mainline Fox X-Men continuity, the heroes may end up rebooted in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the near-future. Fingers crossed.
