12 Upcoming Movies That Have Ignored Massive Mistakes
9. The Previous Film Ended Perfectly - Toy Story 4
The Lesson: Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines
Many fans were outraged when Pixar confirmed that a fourth Toy Story movie was on the way, citing Toy Story 3's rather concrete and incredibly affecting finale as a perfect capper to the beloved franchise.
Though there's little chance Toy Story 4 will be a bad movie, this is a series where anything below excellence is basically a trainwreck, and there's plenty of justifiable fan anxiety right now that the film will simply end up another Monsters University (that is, decent but forgettable).
Pixar not knowing when to quit is immediately reminiscent of the Terminator franchise, which seemed to conclude with 1991's T2, but revived itself over a decade later with the OK-but-not-great Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines.
Though it'd be rather petty to say that these new movies "ruin" the earlier classics, it'll still be annoying having Toy Story 4 as an underwhelming addendum to a story that really should've ended back in 2010.
But of course, money talks, and a fourth Toy Story movie will print Disney literally billions of dollars, even if it scores 10% on Rotten Tomatoes. For context, the Cars franchise was worth $10 billion (!) in merchandising back in 2011. Jesus.
