8. Over-Saturating The Audience - Mowgli

The Lesson: White House Down

Every year or two, there's a movie released that bears an odd, uncanny similarity to another recent project. For instance, Deep Impact and Armageddon, Antz and A Bug's Life, and Olympus Has Fallen and White House Down.

In the case of these movies, however, they were at least distinct properties that coincidentally spawned from fairly broad concepts, whereas in the case of Mowgli, it's rather foolishly attempting a retelling of The Jungle Book just two-and-a-half years after the release of Jon Favreau's live-action smash hit adaptation.

Director and star Andy Serkis has played-up the differences between the two, though the single trailer released to date doesn't suggest enough of a difference to make this worthwhile to most audiences.

The movie started shooting back in early 2015 and has been delayed numerous times in order to try and escape the shadow of the 2016 film, but ultimately, most are simply going to be baffled at another version of this story being told so soon (especially with the 2016 movie being as fantastic as it was).

Just as White House Down suffered at the box office for releasing mere months after London Has Fallen, this one's toast at the box office regardless of its eventual quality.
