12 Upcoming Stephen King Adaptions His Readers Can Look Forward To

2. In The Tall Grass

Westworld - Teddy (James Marsden)
HBO

Most longtime King fans know that his best work isn't the lengthy novels he's mostly known for, but short stories. King excels when forced to get to the point, so it's no surprise to see many of his shorter works being optioned for adaptation.

In the Tall Grass is one of those. Co-authored by King's son Joe Hill (Horns, NOS4A2), it's the story of a boy apparently lost in a field of tall grass. Of course, things are not as they seem, and those attempting to rescue the child soon find themselves lured into a bizarre and terrifying realm that is more than just a simple patch of grass.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, Netflix is putting together an adaptation of In the Tall Grass, with Westworld's James Marsden circling the project. His turn as Teddy on the HBO series has sparked new life into the former X-Men actor's career; as for Netflix, they've had enough success with 1922 and Gerald's Game to want to stay in the King business.

In the Tall Grass is being headed up by Vincenzo Natal, of Cube and Splice fame. He recently directed a couple of episodes of Westworld, as well as one from Netflix's Lost in Space reboot. You can see how all that ties together. The film is expected to shoot in Toronto later this Summer.
