12 Worst Casting Decisions In Spider-Man Movies
9. Andrew Garfield As Peter Parker (Amazing Spider-Man)
Key aspects of Peter Parker's character appear to have been overlooked when Andrew Garfield was cast as the high-school-nerd-turned-arachnid-powered-superhero.
The biggest issue lies in the actor's clean-cut good looks. Peter is supposed to be an endearing underdog before he acquires spider powers, not a cool emo skaterboy. We had our fill of emo when Tobey Maguire bonded with the symbiote in Spider-Man 3.
Overlooking the fact that Garfield doesn't pass for a teenager, there are also elements of Spider-Man he fails to nail, like the wall-crawler's trademark wit.
Given that Spidey is known to crack wise like a PG-13 version of Deadpool, this is an important facet of the character, and Garfield never quite comes across as natural when running his mouth off in crimefighting mode.
Although the actor brought emotion to the role, he falls short of being the full Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man package.
