12 Worst Casting Decisions In Spider-Man Movies
8. Dane DeHaan As Green Goblin (Amazing Spider-Man 2)
After Chronicle proved a surprise hit at the box office it was only a matter of time before its lead star was handed a role in a mainstream superhero film.
Unfortunately for Dane DeHaan, the role ended up being that of Harry Osborn, a part he simply wasn't cut out for.
Once again, this is an instance where the script is partly to blame as the Amazing Spider-Man series' more serious tone wasn't best suited to a villain like Green Goblin.
Willem Dafoe's borderline pantomime take on the character may have been over the top, but it worked because the Sam Raimi trilogy didn't take itself anywhere near as seriously as its successors.
Moreover, Dafoe proved far more capable of portraying Gobby's madness and gleeful threat than DeHaan, who crashed and burned on that glider.
