12 Worst Marketed Movies Of 2018

5. Game Night

Much like the trailers for Blockers, Game Night's marketing heavily downplayed its more subversive elements and stylish filmmaking in favour of broader comedic beats.

If Bad Times at the El Royale's trailers didn't spoonfeed audiences enough, Game Night went the other way, barraging viewers with obnoxious text overlays and focusing on a fleet of outlandish gags.

Game Night's trailers promised a wacky time with a capital W, but the final film is a smart, self-aware comedy that expertly walks the tightrope between grit and silliness.

The marketing suggested something much more generic and forgettable, but Game Night was the first of several surprisingly great studio comedies released last year.
