12 Worst Marketed Movies Of 2018
4. Welcome To Marwen
Robert Zemeckis and Steve Carell's Oscar-baiting holiday drama is not in any way a good film, but it never really stood a chance with audiences following the completely vomit-worthy, saccharine trailers Universal put out for the film.
As if the actual movie itself wasn't enough of a tonal nightmare, the first trailer ill-advisedly used a Foo Fighters song ("Walk") to try and sell both the human drama and the CGI-infused action sequences.
It just seems sappy and inappropriate, failing to strike the heart-warming tone it's clearly aiming for and ultimately coming off irritating and desperate.
Unsurprisingly, the film was a colossal box office dud, barely grossing even 25% of its $50 million budget.
