It's 30 years since Tim Burton's Beetlejuice hit cinemas, and fans have been begging the filmmaker for a sequel ever since. Burton started plotting out the sequel, tentatively titled Beetlejuice Goes Hawaiian, back in 1990, but despite the enthusiasm of Winona Ryder and Michael Keaton to return, Burton's never quite felt like the script was in good enough shape.

Updates have been thin on the ground over the last two years, and with Burton being kept plenty busy with his live-action Dumbo for the next year-plus, Keaton will be close to 70 years of age by the time the film can conceivably be made.

Keaton may look great for his age, but some things are better left alone, and considering Burton's ambivalence, not to mention how busy he keeps himself, there's not much hope for this one ever happening.
