13 Announced Movies That Will Never Actually Happen
3. Rendezvous With Rama
A movie based on Arthur C. Clarke's legendary 1973 sci-fi novel has been in the works since the early 2000s, as championed by Morgan Freeman, who is set to produce while David Fincher will direct.
However, both Freeman and Fincher have expressed doubts about the film ever being made, largely due to the difficulty involved in nailing the script and bringing Clarke's ambitious vision to the screen in a way that's both respectful and marketable to a wide audience.
Though Freeman has seemed more hopeful in recent interviews, it's far more likely that an 80-year-old Freeman will pass away before the project ever comes to fruition, and with him being the main driving force behind it, Fincher will likely move on to other projects.
It's a damn shame because it'd make one hell of a movie, but it's hard to see any studio springing for something so risky.
