13 Anticipated 2018 Movies Destined To Disappoint
8. The Purge: The Island
The Buzz: The Purge franchise has proven itself to be an entertainingly trashy genre mainstay over the last few years, and with number four going back to explain how The Purge came about, there's a lot of room here for The Island to further deepen the series' mythos in compelling fashion.
If nothing else, you're going to see creepy masked people stylishly slaughtering poor saps for 100 minutes, right?
Why It'll Disappoint: The fact that this is the first of the four movies not being directed by series writer James DeMonaco is definitely a little worrying, especially as he doesn't seem to have much else on his plate right now, and replacement director Gerard McMurray (Burning Sands) doesn't have any experience with this sort of movie.
That's without mentioning the fact that the prequel premise will presumably prevent the brilliant Frank Grillo from reprising his role, and considering the cliffhanger that the last Purge movie ended on, a lot of fans are eager to move forward, not backwards.
