13 Awesome Movies To Watch This Summer (Which Aren't Blockbusters)
10. Ratchet & Clank
Release Date: April 29
The Plot: Lombax mechanic Ratchet (James Arnold Taylor) and escaped robot Clank (David Kaye) become fast friends as they join forces to put a stop to the evil Chairman Drek (Paul Giamatti).
Why It's Going To Be Awesome: Because it's a video game movie actually co-written by one of the creative minds behind the franchise, T.J. Fixman, and actually features Ratchet and Clank's original voice actors from the video games, rather than Hollywood's usual temptation to recast with more famous names.
Though what's been shown off in trailers seems like a fairly broad animated flick in terms of comedy style, at least the evidently lower budget than the full-on blockbuster animations from Disney, Pixar and DreamWorks should ensure that it remains faithful to the story and tone of the source material.
Plus, the supporting cast is padded out by Rosario Dawson, John Goodman and Sylvester Stallone. If it doesn't immediately become the best video game movie ever made (at least until Assassin's Creed comes out at the end of the year), it'd be a huge surprise.
