13 Awesome Movies To Watch This Summer (Which Aren't Blockbusters)
8. The Conjuring 2
Release Date: June 10
The Plot: Paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren (Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga) travel to the U.K. to examine apparent paranormal activity at an Enfield council house.
Why It's Going To Be Awesome: Though horror sequels are rarely any good, James Wan has been rising through the ranks with his highly successful work on two Insidious movies, the original Conjuring (which made an insane $318 million against a $20 million budget) and Furious 7.
Plus, The Conjuring struck it rich with Wilson and Farmiga's terrific double act, so there's little reason to believe they won't elevate the movie even if Wan can't turn the screws quite as tight in other areas this time around.
What we've seen so far looks suitably creepy, and the England setting should give it a unique flavour from both the original and so many similar films from the genre. Good horror is hard to find, but there's plenty to be hopeful for here.
