13 Critically Acclaimed Recent Movies That Actually Sucked

9. Sing

Sing 2016
Universal

Rotten Tomatoes Score: 73% (6.5/10)

What The Critics Said: Reviewers were enamoured with Sing's spritely animation, talented voice cast and cute collection of endearing characters, which they largely considered a fun time for kids and adults alike.

Why It Actually Sucked: This is a textbook example of a totally mediocre animation, suffering from an excess of characters and random subplots, all of which tick the most basic boxes while bringing absolutely nothing of inspiration to the table.

Perhaps critics were feeling a little generous because the film was released in the Christmas period, but "animal singing pop songs" just isn't enough of a hook to justify a feature-length film, and this really feels like a cute YouTube short that somehow got adapted into a full feature...and actually made an insane $632.4 million at the box office.
