13 Disturbing Disney Moments That Ruined Your Childhood

5. Chernabog - Fantastia

Ursula The Little Mermaid
Disney

Rising up out of the shadow of a mountain, Chernabog, Disney's demon representative of the God of Night, unfurls his pitch black wings and reveals himself in his full glory to the soundtrack of A Night on Bald Mountain. And then, all hell breaks loose. Quite literally.

Conjuring up swathes of flying skeletons, flame bodied women, and strange familiars to both dance and be plummeted into the firy chasm below the great beast, Chernabog is the true portrayal of evil in Fantastia and throughout Disney's movies in general. Although he never speaks, his diabolic intentions can be read from his actions alone, submitting a sleepy town at the bottom of the mountain to a night of undead revelry.

Whilst both Fantasia and A Night on Bald Mountain in particular are fantastic pieces of animation, the swirling colours and demonic images of Chernabog's segment are undeniably very unsettling, even over 70 years after its initial release.
