13 Dumbest Movie Plot Twists Of 2018

8. Credence Is Aurelius Dumbledore - Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald

In a moment that left Harry Potter fans furious and baffled, The Crimes of Grindelwald ends with Grindelwald (Johnny Depp) making the bizarre revelation that Credence Barebone (Ezra Miller) is in fact Albus Dumbledore's (Jude Law) secret brother Aurelius.

If it wasn't bad enough that this directly contradicted established Potter lore, it also felt like a desperate attempt to inject some pathos and drama into a movie that, well, just wasn't very good.

Hollywood is absolutely obsessed with the idea of "everyone is connected" narratives, and this one played out as an especially cheap, lazy attempt to heighten audience intrigue.

Credence/Aurelius is going to get the Darth Vader treatment, isn't he?
