13 Incredible Moments In Otherwise Forgettable Movies
1. The Parking Garage Chase - Death Sentence
The Movie: Kevin Bacon gives a needlessly committed performance in this low-rent, Taxi Driver and Death Wish-inspired revenge thriller from James Wan (Saw, The Conjuring).
Comically self-serious and wearing its absurdly obvious themes proudly on its sleeve, Death Sentence clearly wants to be something more than your average revenge flick, yet it ultimately ends up just as disposable.
The Scene: While on the run from the gang who murdered his son, Nick Hume (Kevin Bacon) flees into a parking garage, leading to an ingeniously constructed sequence where Wan captures the hide-and-seek game across several levels of the garage in a single unbroken take.
Watching a 48-year-old Bacon get some epic cardio as he runs around the garage and climbs from floor to floor is all the more impressive as the camera follows both him and his pursuers the entire way, being passed between cameramen on separate floors with a shocking level of seamlessness.
It was early proof of the filmmaking skill that's served Wan well in his more recent big-budget movies, and the new extended trailer for Aquaman makes it clear he's got another ambitious long-take in the works.
