7. Red Skull

After disappearing at the end of The First Avenger, Red Skull surprisingly reappeared in Avengers: Infinity War as the cursed guardian of the Soul Stone on Vormir. The location of the Stone was subsequently revealed to Thanos, who met Red Skull and learned of the need for great sacrifice to possess the Stone.

In the aftermath of Thanos killing Gamora and getting the Stone, we don't see Red Skull again, but without a Stone to guard, he's out of a job.

Where Is He?

While it could have been assumed that he died at that point, the film-makers have confirmed that Red Skull is now free from Vormir and able to pursue the Stones again (if he has learned precisely nothing).

Threat Level

He might be a little more jaded than he was back in the 40s, but Red Skull is a super soldier (having used Erskine's imperfect serum on himself) and is a master tactician and incredibly skilled combatant. More dangerously, he has the same God complex that Thanos has and his obsession with power will continue to make him a threat if he turns up again.
