7. Beetle (Matthew McConaughey) - Kubo & The Two Strings
The Role: One of Kubo's protectors and sidekicks, a soldier clad in a hilarious beetle-like shell who is extremely gifted with a bow and arrow.
Why You Should Be Excited: Pretty much everything about this film looks terrific, from Charlize Theron's fellow monkey sidekick to the absolutely beautiful animation.
From the trailers, it looks like Beetle might steal the show, though, a hardy warrior who also happens to be a clumsy goofball, and Matthew McConaughey's delivery seems totally perfect.
At a time where truly unique animated characters outside of Pixar are a distinct rarity, here's one who could beat that studio at their own game while affirming Laika's knack for thoughtful, visually stunning storytelling.
