13 Upcoming Comic Book Movie Scenes Fanboys Are Craving To See

4. Guardians Of The Galaxy €“ The Appearance Of Thanos

The Avengers Since that post-Avengers credit scene, it appears the internet has gone ablaze for Thanos, the mad giant who wants to marry death (it all makes sense in the comics, trust me). Originally believed to be the main villain for The Avengers 2, comic fans up and down the world were all sorts of thrilled to see the movies cast off the Earth-based comfort blanket and set their first step into the utterly bonkers realms of the Marvel universe. Yet then, we learnt that Thanos wasn't putting in an antagonist's shift for Avengers 2 €“ that honour was falling to Ultron, and the Mad Giant picked up the villain role in Guardians Of The Galaxy instead. Now, I know a lot of people are excited to see Thanos, but while I count myself among them, I'm approaching the whole thing with trepidation. The superhero genre has rarely done well when attempting to put cosmic beings onscreen €“ one need only look at Galactus in the Fantastic Four sequel (seriously, who decided he should be a cloud?) or Parallax in DC's risible Green Lantern to see the potential pitfalls. But still, I'm willing to bet that Marvel €“ and more specifically James Gunn €“ have learned from the mistakes of their stablemate and competition. It might be a stupid thing to say, but at least he's got corporeal form, and bearing in mind how zany Guardians Of The Galaxy might get (again, raccoons), he's probably going to be one of the less out-there parts. So when he does appear after a two year hiatus, you can colour me excited.
