12. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 €“ Jamie Foxx As Electro

Electro1 I think sometimes, we don't know how good we have it. Granted, I know The Amazing Spider-Man series isn't everyone's cup of tea €“ personally, I hoped they'd Spider-Man 3 and let Sam Raimi loose on a Vulture-centric fourth installment €“ but for what it's worth, it wasn't a bad film. Yeah, The Lizard looked all sorts of awful, but Andrew Garfield wasn't half as bad as people made out and Emma Stone was frankly adorable. It was a real three-out-of-five film €“ not ground-breakingly awesome, but hardly the atrocity it's occasionally made out to be. Again, the main problem with the previous film was that the villain was wildly underwhelming, as we pointed out just the other day. Yes, it wasn't the only problem the rebooted effort had, but it sure as hell was the anchor that stopped this film soaring. Well, to my mind, it looks as if they're fixing that problem. I guess I might be in a minority here, but I'm extremely excited about Jamie Foxx's turn as Electro. The man's an Oscar-winner, capable of throwing out gritty performances like confetti, and I think that stands his portrayal of Maxwell Dillon in good stead. Plus, I may be in a party of one again, but I think Electro looks pretty awesome in this form, seemingly riffing off Ultimate Marvel. It's a lot cooler than a man with a star on his face, at least. Once again, Foxx is an Oscar-winning actor. Admittedly, that doesn't necessarily mean this'll be a good performance, but once again, gritty, pissed-off performances are his bread and butter. Combine this with the ability to shoot lightning bolts out of his arse and you just might have yourself a winner. It'll be lot better than the Lizard, surely?
