Release Date: April 10th The Plot: Adapted from Vonda N. McIntyre's 1997 novel, The Moon and the Sun revolves around the quest of King Louis XIV (Pierce Brosnan) to achieve immortality by stealing the lifeforce of a mermaid (Fan Bingbing). This is complicated further when his illegitimate daughter Marie-Josèphe (Kaya Scodelario) finds out about what he's doing and endeavours to set the mermaid free. Why It's Awful: Even ignoring Pierce Brosnan's absolutely hilarious get-up in this movie, it's a plot much like Jupiter Ascending, in that it sounds terrible on paper (even though the source novel did admittedly win the Nebula Award for Best Novel, even beating A Game of Thrones), and will ultimately be all about the execution. Given that it's directed by Sean McNamara, the mind behind such classics as 3 Ninjas: High Noon at Mega Mountain and Bratz, that probably says everything that needs to be said about how this laughably-premised movie will turn out.
