13 Worst Performances In Otherwise Awesome Blockbusters
5. James Franco (Harry Osborn) - Spider-Man
The Movie: Sam Raimi helped make Spider-Man probably the most mainstream movie superhero for a time, aided by Tobey Maguire's earnest performance, a gleefully hammy Willem Dafoe and a ton of visual grandeur.
The Performance: Harry Osborn should've been a complex, conflicted character who has a tragic descent into villainy, but Franco's inconsistent portrayal switches between being utterly lethargic and diverting into full-on camp (such as the infamous "so good" pie scene from Spider-Man 3...not that we're calling that an awesome movie).
Given that Harry in many ways forms a major part of the franchise's dramatic through-line, Franco's disinterested performance, surely harmed by his own admission that he didn't enjoy working on the films, is borderline blasphemy to the fanboys.
