14 Dumbest Things In The Worst Summer Movie Season Ever

1. Letting Akiva Goldsman Write The Script - The Dark Tower

The writing may have been on the wall for quite some time that The Dark Tower was going to be a bust, but that didn't make it any less heartbreaking how badly Sony bungled their mid-budget adaptation of Stephen King's much-loved fantasy series.

Why It's Dumb: It's especially stupid considering the ridiculous amount of talent the project roped in, namely Idris Elba, Matthew McConaughey, Jackie Earle Haley and director Nikolaj Arcel.

All the ingredients were there for an entertaining adaptation...but then someone decided to let Akiva "Batman and Robin" Goldsman near the script, and all hope was lost.

Goldsman isn't the sort of person you want attached to a project with so much fan anxiety about how it's going to be adapted. He needs to be left to write tosh like Winter's Tale, Insurgent and Rings.
